Crockery & Ceramic Mosaic Workshop
Explore the beauty of mosaic design with vintage crockery and beautiful ceramics - Sun 9th Feb
Service Description
Come learn the technique of picassiette! The wonderful technique of using broken ceramics, crockery and found objects to create your mosaic. Come join me, Audrey (mosaicist) at The Pavilion, Greenwood Park, St Albans for an afternoon of mosaic making loveliness. In this workshop we will be creating a mosaic design using a variety of vintage crockery and ceramic tiles. This is a perfect workshop to create something truly unique! All materials will be provided for your to explore as you work on the design of your mosaic but there is also the opportunity for you to bring along your own pieces of crockery, old jewellery or found objects. Maybe your favourite cup or plate has been chipped, or you have some special pieces that you'd love to incorporate into your unique piece of art. Bring them along and transform your favourite crockery into something beautiful again! During the workshop you'll be supported in creating a successful design and learn how to snip and place your tiles onto your chosen substrate. I will give a demonstration on how to grout during the session and you'll be given grout and step by step instructions to take away with you at the end of the day. Should you complete your mosaic design with time to spare you will be able to grout your completed piece within the workshop time. So come! On your own, with a friend or family members. Sessions are very relaxed and welcoming and suitable for complete beginners and those already experienced in mosaic making. The workshop is usually attended by adults but is open to young people who are keen to attend with a participating adult and who will be happy to participate for the duration (guide age 11 years+). So once you book, have a think about what design you'd like to create. This may be a door number, a piece of garden art or something decorative for your home. Audrey will be in touch with details about the size options and to see what you'd like to achieve within the session. Coffee/tea and biscuits are provided throughout the workshop. You may also want to bring along a packed lunch or treat yourself to something lovely from the on site cafe. You will be contacted three days before the course starts with any final details but until then if you have any queries please do get in touch.
